A couple of weeks ago our admin team got a chance to chuck on a fluro work shirt and dig out the steal cap boots for admin ride along day!
To see somebody else’s work day really helps put things into perspective, especially when you have not worked a day on a work site in your life. Part of my day to day work is to ensure the guys have a schedule for their jobs to run smoothly, however; this may not always be the case. During my ride along day I did see how easily a schedule can go from on time to very behind.
The day went smoothly, I even felt like a real tradie, with KFC for lunch whilst sporting the coolest work shirt from Trademutt. However; had the first job needed more trouble shooting, the schedule could have very well been in hot water. Thankfully, all ran smoothly and we were on our way to the next job.
The next job being more of a larger scale project, I got to see how tradies work together. The things I learnt here:
loud music is an obvious must,
Smoko is very important and,
How to strip a cable.
Later in the afternoon, we set out to take a look at some electricity mains in need of repairs, along with a house that had lost half its power. I couldn't do much on these jobs, but it was interesting watching the guys fault find and solve the issue.
All in all it was a great day, I may not ever be tradie but I sure had a great day pretending to be one!
